From your photograph to your wall

Send the clearest photographs you have: sharp, in natural light, taken at eye level. You may send several and we will choose together. If a photograph will not make a good portrait, we will tell you honestly before work begins. See our photo guidelines.

Each portrait is assigned to one artist who works in your chosen medium. We plan the crop, the pose, the background and the scale for the wall it will hang on.

Your mockup shows the composition, crop and background. Up to two rounds of changes are included. Nothing is painted until you approve it.

Oil portraits are painted on cotton canvas or Belgian linen; paper portraits are drawn or painted on cotton paper. You receive progress photographs as the portrait develops, so you are never left wondering.

We send photographs of the completed portrait. One round of refinements is included, and nothing is framed until you are completely happy. If it does not capture the likeness of your approved photograph, we correct or repaint it at no cost.

Your portrait is inspected, framed by hand in a solid wood frame (behind museum glass for works on paper), signed and paired with its certificate of authenticity. It travels insured in gallery-grade packaging, or we deliver and hang it for you in the New York area.
